- It Was erected by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan, (1628-57), in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It is the Splendid white marble tomb on the bank of the river Jumna, near Agra (India) It is the most perfect example of the Mughal style of architecture and most sublime mausoleum in the world.
