  • The Official residence of the President of USA. It is located on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington. The site Covering 18 acres was selected by President Washington. The design was suggested by the Duke of Lainsters Palace in Ireland. The cornerstone was laid on Oct. 13, 1792, and the first occupants were President and Mrs. John Adam. in November, 1800. The exterior was painted white. The rooms for public functions are on the first floor and the President's apartments are on the 2nd and 3rd. the east room is the most celebrated public room. the other public rooms are the Red Room, the Green Room and the Blue Room. There are 132 rooms in all.
