Light year
A light year is the distance covered by light in
one year in vacuum traveling at a speed of 299.795. km. per second or about
186,282 miles per second. There fore a light year is 5.88 million-million miles.
Alifye - Light Year - Astronomical Unit |
Astronomical Unit (A.U)
It is evolved by radar
astronomy and is more accurate than the light year unit. It represents the mean
distance between the Sun and the Earth, calculated on the data supplied by
radars. The A.U. distance has now become a key constant in determining
distances in the solar system. A.6. is approximately 150 million (149.600.000)
km. It may be said that light year is made up of about 60.000 A.Us.
